This is my first full week of posts in a while and I'm excited to be back! I'm sure you guys can relate, but man, what a crazy season of life we're in at the moment. And the Holidays are right around the corner (eek!). I'm such a HUGE Christmas person, so I am literally … Continue reading Tech Bytes →

It could be a wet weekend here in New Orleans. There is yet ANOTHER tropical storm lurking out there in the middle of the ocean, and it's currently headed straight for the Gulf. Fingers crossed that the impact is minimal. I didn't live here during Katrina, but I did experience my first hurricane in 2012 … Continue reading Tech Bytes →

1. Did you know that the #Hashtag turned 10 this year?! It might be the Twitter's single greatest contribution to our lives (other than sports announcer parody accounts, social media mobs, and political debate live streams). 2. TL;DR — even though I had seen this abbreviation all over the internet and had no idea what it meant, I never bothered … Continue reading Tech Bytes →

Did I mention that blogging is hard? I absolutely love to write, and I have a deep passion for the subject matter that I write about, and it's still really, really hard. We traveled non-stop from the end of July through Labor Day, so posting consistently was a challenge. I think it will get easier as … Continue reading Tech Bytes →

We're in Southampton for a long weekend, and can I just say how amazing it is to live like the 1% for a few days? This place is basically an incredible alternate version of reality. The houses, the clubs, the restaurants, even the LANDSCAPING for goodness' sake. All amazing. But at the same time, it's … Continue reading Tech Bytes →

Time for another round of random @#%$ I found around the internet! This was my first week back in the office after being at Bank School for 10 days. Everyone knows how that goes. The week you return is a whirlwind. You feel like you'll never catch up. Your coworkers treat you like you've been gone for … Continue reading Tech Bytes →

1. In case Game of Thrones confuses you as much as it confuses me at times, here's a good reminder of where each of the characters was when we left them at the end of Season 6. I'd advise checking it ASAP because we're already heading into Episode 2 and who knows how many of … Continue reading Tech Bytes →

As mentioned yesterday, it has been a while. So I think a refresher around our "Tech Bytes" posts is in order. Rebecca and I are constantly on the Internet researching and reading about tech, so as a result, we come across a lot of interesting/funny/bizarre things. We often share them with each other to break … Continue reading Tech Bytes →

I often feel pressure to read ONLY things that are highly “intellectual,” but I just spent two longgggg years in business school reading about things like straddles, the Dickey-Fuller Test, and the LIBOR Scandal. I’ve EARNED a break. Plus, summer just feels like the perfect time for “easy-reads.” I’m totally addicted to my Kindle and bring … Continue reading Tech Bytes →

Have a wonderful weekend! We'll be at Whitney White Linen Night and Satchmo Fest. Probably drenched in sweat...happy first day of August! As follow-up to this week’s RailsGirls post, check out this Kickstarter by the founder of RailsGirls. In case you’re looking for some summer reading, check out the TED list. Is it too late to give you my review of the iPhone X? No? Ok. Don’t mind if I do, then!
••••••••••
I’ve owned my shiny, expensive toy for three months now. Today, it’s a little less shiny (both literally and figuratively), and I don’t marvel at Face ID every time it performs its magic 💥, so I figured this was finally the right time to share my thoughts.
••••••••••
Plus, the majority of you probably still don’t own one yet, so maybe this will help you decide if the iPhone X is worthy of your hard-earned money in 2018 📱
••••••••••
Check out the latest post on Tech in Real Life for the rundown (link in bio!), and if you’re feeling EXTRA generous, take the poll at the bottom of the post and let me know if the iPhone X is in your future (or if you already have one!).
••••••••••
It’s a gloomy, rainy day here in NOLA — I hope it’s nicer where you are!

#techinreallife #TIRL #iphone #iphonex #iphonereview #iphonexreview #anotherreview #techblog #techblogger Given that technology has such a prominent place in my everyday life, for the past couple of years I’ve made a point to do some “Tech Housekeeping” as part of any New Year's Resolutions I set. I like to reflect on how I used (and sometimes abused) tech over the course of the previous year. I also note purchases I regret to try to avoid making the same mistake again and look at what tech “clutter” exists in my life and how I can clean it up.
••••••••••
In the latest TIRL post (link in bio!), I’ve shared a few changes that I made at the end of 2017. My hope is that by making these changes, I can continue to maintain a healthy relationship with technology and my beloved gadgets so that they improve and enhance my life rather than drag me down, distract me from my bigger goals, and keep me from focusing on what really matters!
••••••••••
I’d love to hear if you guys write down resolutions each year (tech-related or otherwise!), and what’s on your list for 2018. And if you have any good tips for actually STICKING to your resolutions, I could always use the help! 🤞🏼🙂

#techinreallife #TIRL #newyear #2018 #newyearsresolution #techhousekeeping #techresolutions This is one of my very favorite quotes because it fits me so perfectly. I spend wayyy too much time thinking about where certain things in my life would be if I had only done or started that thing five years ago...a year ago...a month ago. Getting on a workout routine, eating better, learning how to use Photoshop, writing my blog — you get the idea. But that kind of thinking only delays things further, which leads to only getting more frustrated with myself. It’s a vicious cycle!
••••••••••
So I end up looking at this quote more than a few times over the course of the year and reminding myself that there’s no time like the present. Less thinking and worrying, and more doing.
••••••••••
This weekend we’ll be trying to stay warm, cheering on the Saints, and getting a few rides in on our new Peloton bike. Hope yours is a good one!

#techinreallife #TIRL #techbytes #motivation #motivationalquotes #inspiration #hustleharder #gogetit #wordswag AirDrop is an awesome technology, and one of the most useful features of Apple devices. So I’m always a little surprised when I run across iPhone users that haven’t used it (or even heard of it).
••••••••••
Picture this: you go to dinner with friends and one of you takes the perfect group shot (you know — no bad hair, no closed eyes, no double chins). Obviously, you and everyone else wants a copy of the photo. But what is the best and easiest way to send it to everyone?
••••••••••
You can always resort to email — but we all know how clunky that can be — especially when you’re dealing with large files. Then there’s the option to post the photo to social media and let everyone retrieve it. But sometimes you don’t want the photo on social media, and some social networks save photos at a lower quality or smaller size. Enter the magic of AirDrop.
••••••••••
Check out the latest installment of Tech Tidbits to learn more (link in bio)! And if you’re an AirDrop lover and have used it in a creative way, let me know!

#techinreallife #TIRL #techtidbits #apple #airdrop #howto #helpfultips #tipsandtricks #tech #technology #techblog Welcome to 2018! We all know that a new year is a time for getting back to the gym; putting healthier food in your body; being a better friend, employee, and partner; and ditching every single one of your bad habits, right?! Well, until mid-February at least.
••••••••••
I love staying active, and this year I have the added motivation of getting in wedding-shape by June. So here's me jumping on the #newyearnewme bandwagon and seeing how long I can hang on.
••••••••••
While strapping a smartwatch or activity tracker on your wrist isn't going to miraculously teleport you to the gym more often, I have found that using one of these devices helps my motivation to get up, and get moving.
••••••••••
So which device is better — a Fitbit or an Apple Watch? Check out the latest post on Tech in Real Life (link in bio!) to find out the pros and cons of both, and which one I'm sticking with for 2018! And if you’ve used either of them (or both!), let me know if you agree with me!

#techinreallife #TIRL #newyearsresolution #newyear #fitbit #fitbitcharge2 #applewatch #apple #smartwatch #fitness #fitnesstracker #activitytracker #10000steps #instafit #instafitness So I’m trying something new. I realize my blog posts are, well, lengthy. This surprises exactly ZERO people that know me well, as I’ve always talked too much and written too much. I just have a lot to share — and some of it is even interesting! In my defense, given the complexity of some of the topics I cover in Tech in Real Life and the fact that I’m usually trying to break those topics down as simply as possible, sometimes it’s just impossible to keep things brief. At the same time, I know most of you don’t always have the time or the desire to sit down and read a short novel about tech. ••••••••••
So here’s my new plan. I’m going to continue to post longer-form posts but I’m also going to mix in shorter posts that cut to the chase and offer plain ol’ tech tips. But instead of Tips, I’m going to call them Tech Tidbits.

It seems especially fitting that today is #internationalwomensday because, well, not only did these girls rock my weekend, they rock my world. They are strong, smart, beautiful, caring, and I couldn’t imagine doing this life without them ❤️

#happyvalentinesday #happyvday #forevervalentine #hesallmineladies #weddingdietwoes #nola I know Instagram is full of beautiful toast creations, but some of them actually look kind of yucky, #amirite!? Anything for the perfect food photo, I guess. Well, luckily this one actually tastes good too. And it satisfies my sweet tooth without an accompanying sugar crash. After all, even donut lovers have to mix it up once in a while.

Here’s to another year of good health, great times with friends, new destinations to see, and many, many delicious donuts to eat.
